    MP C3004 PCU

    Hello to all,
    someone told me that it's possible use the color drum of mp c3004 (d2392239) on mp c3003. D2392239 costs less than the MP C 3003 drum color (D1862239). Has anyone already tried and knows if it's true? Thanks in advance

    Yeah works fine. You can also release the spring mechanism to stop wear on all models

    Because this is the lifetime difference. D1862239 (3003) -> 270k / 100% and D2392239 (3004) -> 175k / 100%. I would not experiment in your situation If I were you.

    Hi Hitman,

    We can not do it.
    Have you changed MP C3004 color drum unit to MP C3003?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: MP C3004 PCU

    I’d be interested to hear any feedback on this.

    The MP C3004 PCU are less than half the cost of the MP C3003 so makes financial sense to use 04 on the 03 series.

    I have been using the 3004 drum for a direct fit replacement on the 3003's for a while now. No mods needed, slides right in. Works good, I don't know how long they last, I have not had one of the replacement drums go the distance yet.

    I have thought about this, I will try releasing the pressure spring on all of them, it should help with longer life of the drum units.

    I have only done this with the black pcu, I have not tried using the 04 color drum in an 03 yet.

    the spring you reference is that the lub bar pressure springs?
    The few mpc3003 drums i have taken apart i do feel there is excessive lub material broken up inside.

    I totally would in case you have a service contract with low color volume. C3004 pcus are cheaper so it can make sense in case the expexted volume fits.
