    MP4054 with bad skewing

I've got a 4054 that is about 1.5yrs old with just under 180,000 copies on it that is skewing test patterns badly. Even with the paper buckle set to -4 which is as far as it goes it's still pretty bad. On 8.5x11 LEF one corner of the trimming pattern will be nearly at the corner of the page while the other end is probably a quarter inch away.

Running paper buckle adjust to +4 just makes it worse.

The machine is level front to back and side to side and I've replaced all three feed tires in each of the three paper trays. There doesn't seem to be much variation in skew between the three trays, including the third one which is a LCT.

    Any suggestions where to start?

    Hi there!
I´m not really sure, but i think there was a RTB about image-skews with the printer-head not in the correct position. On the german side of RICOH it´s no more listed.
    Hope you´ll find it.
    Greetings...

I wasn't able to find anything like that on the US site either.

First work out if its the image skewing or the paper.

Does it skew on all paper trays inc bypass?

I haven't checked the bypass, but as I mentioned it does skew from the three main trays of the machine the third is an LCT. The skew seems pretty consistent between the trays I did use.

Have you stopped the machine with the paper at registration to see if it is fed straight from there?

Is there any damage to the paper that is fed out? Folds? Nicks/cuts?
    Press the GREEN button!!

I havn't stopped it at registration, I'll have to give that a shot next time I go there. The paper feeds out without any damage. I don't think it's hooking on anything.

Given that it is inside a prison and prison guards have been some of the most abusive of our machines I'm leaning towards maybe something inside the machine being slightly twisted or bent out of shape.

Have you checked if the registration roller is making contact at both ends.

I have not, I'll put that only my list of things to try.

I'll see your prison guards and raise you nurses..!!!
I've found that nurses are the most abusive...in particular Orthopedic nurses.
Not sure if it's all the muscles they've built up resetting dislocations but they're pretty much copier thugs lol.
