    firmware

    Hi Guys

    I have been tasked with upgrading the firmware on a ricoh MPC2051 copier as our ricoh guy has left overnight (great) l am Canon Man!! and not sure about the technique on the ricohs. We were sent the SD card from a Ricoh dealer with the firmware already installed. There are two sd card slots on the machine(which both have cards installed at present) i assume one of these cards is removed and the firmware card fitted in its place to carry out the upgrade. I have in the past upgraded the mpc2500 which if l remember correctly was just a case of installing the said sd card switch machine and the reset was done from the display. If anyone can help as to whether the same applies to the mpc2051 it would be appreciated

    UK Rog

    Re: firmware

    Hi there!
    Remove the lower card & insert the fw-card and switch on the machine. Check the fw-versions and make all updates which are newer versions ( on the right side).
    Greetings...

    If the lower card is a JAVA/Virtual Machine card do not remove it without first stopping JAVA through User Tools. If you don't, you run the risk of cratering the control board.

    ::CAUTION::

    Always, ALWAYS make sure the device is powered off before inserting or removing SD cards. Inserting one while the machine is under power will "BORK" that card,

    Yep. I do know this from past experience. Young lad did exactly that with another model and blew the card. He no longer works for us!!!
    Thanks again for the input
