mpc5503 faint shadow only on 280gms card

    Hi all
Customer has MPC5503 total use 260k BLK 40k Col
This only happens when customer is printing onto 280gsm card (silk finish) (use 250gsm no problem)
it is producing a shadow line very faint about 2mm wide in the non feed direction
it is about 750mm from the lead edge same place every time happens on both landscape and portrait, same using bypass or paper tray
it looks like as the lead edge of the card hits the fuser unit it causes a slight buckle and contacts the transfer belt
there is no image distortion just a faint line appears
iam thinking its a speed issue between paper drive, transfer and fuser
fuser was new 2 months ago due to sleeve surface damage, transfer belt has done 300k
all other printing is ok good quality only happens when using the 280gsm i have told customer to use 250gsm
but would like to see if i can fix it or at-least find out what is causing it
(line is just visible but will not show up on scan so i can post sample)

    Thanks

Unfortunately this is a known fault on the Metis. It does it on both the 03 and 04 models and there is no cure.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

    Hi there!
What is the counter of the itb-cleaning-unit? Maybe the cleaning-blade is worn out.
    Greetings...

Cleaning unit is still the original 300k
but it is only getting the problem on the 280gsm
customer seems happy to use 250gsm with no problems

Despite Tonermunkeh's reply, have you update the firmware? Perhaps there is a solution now?

Since it is at the same distance from the lead edge and only with silk finish 280gms paper, I would check for the lead edge hanging momentarily entering a set of rollers. A fusing entrance guide with toner build up can be the cause.

The fuser unit is only a few months old i checked the entrance guide it was clean
got customer to try a 280gsm plain card the line is barley noticeable but is still there
it would seem to be on any card 280gsm and above
it would def seem to be delayed but there is no noticeable defect in the image in the same area

so if you place the sample fault line at the ITB or fuser where does the L/E line up (750mm is a long way - almost a metre !)
