    sc501-02 on pro8100

we have a pro 8100 that wont lift the 1st tray there is no paper in the connectors and the lift motor turns in input mode.
we have changed the upper lift sensor from tray 2 to tray 1 and sill it wont lift.If paper is in the left side of the tray with no paper in the right the copier knows there is no paper and moves the paper over but still wont lift looking for some pointers thanks

By "lift motor turns in input mode" do you mean that you can hear in come on or that you have bypassed the door interlock switches and actually watch the lift tray move up?

Have you tried looking at the upper limit sensor in output checks? There could be something in the first paper feed unit preventing the sensor from changing when the lift tray starts to descend. Tou might try swapping entire feed units between tray 1 and tray 2 to see if the error moves with the unit.

the tech changed over the 1st and 2nd feed units and its still the same checked out sensors looks like this could be one of those nightmare jobs that turns out to be something simple.

    Re: sc501-02 on pro8100 (fixed)

all fixed sorry I forgot to post what we found .
In the end it was a broken wire on the harness from the front of the feed units to the rear of the copier this harness is about 1.5 m long but is easy to remove the cable was broken by one of the tie wrap one to keep an eye out for
