My problem with Ricoh's that use a PCR roller, going only by the copy quality defects on a test pattern a bad drum and or drum cleaning blade in many cases masks the defect caused by a bad PCR. then you do the job only to find remaining lines or spots that are caused by a bad PCR.

if you disassemble the drum unit and inspect the PCR, quite often you can see the worn areas on the PCR and determine weather to order it.

otherwise you do the job twice. and the type 1027 unit i did that had this scenario, was a pain in the rear, so i said, why go thru all the hassles only to save the customer money.

this photoconductor is different than say, the aficio 3045 unit. that would be cost prohibitive.
