Ricoh MPC 3002 with fiery, can i enable scan option?

    ok
I just picked up a low meter c3002 and it has fiery controller option which i got to boot up and see on op panel.
    I dont see scan option.
is the scan option shut down when you disable the default print option?
should i ck the sd card if it is showing scan/print?
    thanks in advance..
plus any way to copy the fiery hard drive in case the hard drive goes out?
i was thinking of using a "GHOST" like program, acronis to make a tib image

If you install Command Workstation on a PC and connect it to the Fiery, you can back it up from there.

When you install a Fiery, you disable the built-in print and scan functions. It is possible to re-enable them if you take the Fiery out of the equation; otherwise you will have to scan thru Command Workstation

The native GW scanning can be enabled with the Fiery installed. Scanning via Fiery leaves much to be desired.

    Zed’s right.

Fiery scanning is just plain awful. A colossal PITA to set up, maintain, and not as easy to use, either.

Not sure if this model will support it, but on older ones I’ve been able to use the on board scanning by connecting to the “normal” network port, and giving that interface its own IP address. I don’t remember which switches to flip, but it was easy.

It’s been a few years, and I struggle with yesterday.

Fiery scanning is done through the command console.

If the previous user was using Fiery scanning and you wish to use GW scanning change SP 5895-002 back to 0. You will need 2 network connections. The Fiery requires a network connection and connects to the MP C3002 via the gigabit the connectors on each. The MP C3002 GW connector is used for scanning.

NOW my query is i have this machine sold but the customer has no need for fiery..
can it be installed in a different machine if i pull the gigabit connector?

You have to remove the Fiery ICON from the home screen, change the SP 5193-001 and SP 5895-001 back to 0 and remove the gigabit Ethernet PCB.

The Fiery E-3300/E-5300 can be used on MP C3002/3502/4002/4502. You would have to check with EFI to see if it is usable on any other machines. You could also sell it on Ebay.
