    mpc2504 gMAIL

    Hello,
I 've been trying to set an MPC2504 up for Gmail scanning.
    Put the usual in:
    Gateway OK
    DNS OK
Says that it has successfully connected to the server
    Smtp.gmail.com
    User name/Password
    Allowed for less secure apps
    Two step verification is off
    Firmware is up to date

But I still get 'Authentication failed'!

On the network print list it says - smtpc: failed to connect to smtp server. err
    smtpc: ssl negotiation failed. err

If I set it up to a standard SMTP server it works fine but not on Gmail.

    What am I missing here?

Hi! If you didn't, you need to set the SSL with gate 465. Then if it doesnt work yet, you
will receive an email from google team and you confirm that the device is ok (by that mail).
    It should start work.

You do not have SSL and port set properly. This Google support document should help. Send email from a printer, scanner, or app - G Suite Administrator Help

I haven't dealt with anything quite this new yet, so not sure if this applies, but on previous models you also have to enable "use secure connection (SSL)" in user tools on the machine itself

    Thanks for the replies.

    Server is SMTP.gmail.com
    Port is set to 465
Use Secure Connection (SSL) is On.

    But still doesn't go.

I've also now tried the smtp-relay.gmail.com
    and using ports: 25/465/587

    Still no go

I have my personal machine (MP301) configured with Gmail and trying to duplicate your issue....
Make sure Smtp Auth encryption in WIM is set to "auto select". Setting it to "Active" produces authentication error.

Set your administration email to that same Gmail that you used to authenticate with.

I remember a problem where certain non-ISP email providers would reject incoming emails when the authentication domain, login@domain.com, reply to domain and sender domain, sender@domain.com, did not match. I vaguely remember a setting that would force using the insert the authentication name in the sender and reply to fields during initial authentication.

Some of the providers switched from SSL and TLS to STARTTLS. Try instead of port 465, ---> 587.
Before troubleshooting, make sure the latest firmware package and romdata files is being used.

    Thanks for all your replies.

Turns out it was the router. Ports were blocked.
