    Ricoh MPC4503 - 6003

I was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to rebuild or substitute a drum unit for these machines. I am sure we are all aware of the high cost of these units.

We buy rebuild kits from a local parts dealer who tells us that they contain genuine Ricoh parts. We're not sure if that is true but the drums perform as well as a PCU from Ricoh.
But interestingly I've just discovered that Ricoh Aust. buy in extra K PCU's and strip them to rebuild the colour units.
It's nice to known that the local factory owned outlet think that their colour PCU'S are exorbitantly priced as well.

Not too wander from from the question but what are you guys seeing in yield for K and color drums in these series?
Found it odd that there was a big difference in k drums vs color in expected yield, from what i remember reading.

Haven't got exact figures to hand but we find that they go well beyond the stated PM figures with no appreciable drop off in copy quality. It is a very rare occurrence to have one fail early.

I had a kpcu go 499k when the wax bar began to fail on one side. It made black, charge roller like streaks, down the printed page. the wax bar failed since it didn't ride evenly and began to soil the charge roller. I will let them go as long as possible, but the wax bar limits their use.

It works fine to strip the K PCU and put the parts in the C PCU unit.
Tried it, and we liked it

    We're getting 500k on average.

It is VERY important to remember to move the lube bar spring when fitting to the 5503 etc (instructions in box) if you don't do this the PCU wears out early.

When using K PCU parts on color what yield do you get?
