    SC 552-02 on a mpc3002 returns

    SC 552-02 on a mpc3002

    hi
    i just got a call back for a mpc3002 that i checked out yesterday"sc 552-02 code"
I pulled the fuser unit and tested both thermofuses and they tested good..
I then pulled both pressure roller thermister a little dirt, and cleaned and reassembled and cked all connections..
the customer had the machine plugged into a 4 outlet "power strip" which they said is a "surge protector"..
As i watched the temp display in service mode,it seemed to heat up pretty normal, both readings very close.
Upon repowering the machine it died midcycle and i watched the power strip light flicker off and then on with no
    fuse/breaker popping out..
I connected right to wall outlet and ran a smc printout and all looked good.
Next morning same problem sc 552-02.
I saw a reference on RTB in system/copy regarding this code.
Did a FW update help with this or should i just go swap out new thermofuses..
    thanks

More often than not, it is the thermostat. Turn the C3002 off and allow the fusing unit to cool. Open the front door and turn back on with the door open. Enter SP mode and monitor the pressure roller temperatures after you close the door. If one of them is slow to come up, meter that thermostat to see if it is open.

I thought that until I pulled it apart. That fuser does not have any heat source to the pressure roller
nor thermostat/s,only 2 thermisters on each end.
There are two thermostats up top on the fuser sleave and both of these tested good..
I dont know if its an odd software issue or a flakey thermostat...It seems almost like older 60 cpm b/w mp2051/mp600 fuser popping
    random fuser codes...

Extract from the service manual. Replacing the pressure roller thermostats.

    hi
i just saw that two but its a typo.
the fuser sleave is where these two thermostats sit above..
if you see this page from manual the pressure roller has no center for a heater lamp nor element..
if you look at page 301 on manual you will see lower roller is solid and fuser sleave has the 3 wires for fusing..

if you can't see physical damage on the belt, replace thermistors.

I am going today after this storm has passed and swapping out a
spare fuser and making them put a "real" surge protector in line..'
They sit above a restaurant and who knows what ac they share, and its an older building that
who knows what the wiring looks like..

I ve seen the triple lamps as i pulled a bad unit apart after swapping out just to see
if changing the sleeve alone was an option..Is there any way to extend the time to reach warmup?
My concern is being a lease return it might have an aftermarket fuser sleeve on it and there would be no way to know until swapping
    out parts....
