MP 7000 drum full of toner, black marks on copies

Hi, I have a problem with MP7000. Sometimes black marks appear on copies, and every few thousand copies I have to vacuum the drum, it's full of tonner. Developer has 90k, drum 300k. Charge corona unit is new.

Looks like the cleaning brush may be intermittently slipping.

Check the condition of the gear on the end of the cleaning brush roller.
I've had a couple of those crack on the D shape or grind the gear teeth down to next to nothing in the past.

I think Ricoh modded the gear with a tougher type of plastic.

You specified the count on the developer and drum, but what about the cleaning blade, brush and filters on both the PCU and development unit.

I have seen the toner recycling assembly on the front of the PCU clog and cause the cleaning station to fill up with toner. If the cause of t he clogging is not correcting in time it will cause damage to the transport coil. If it is allowed to continue, the opening in the side of the PCU that the toner exits through to the recycling assembly will become clogged and may required replacement of the lower PCU.

What the #@@@ is a "changer"? Arrgh! Use correct terminology. I've worked on these before the AF1060 and have no idea what a "changer" is.

I have seen this happen on many machines from the MP7000 all the way up to the new MP6503. In fact I had to clean out a two month old MP6503 with about 137K on the meter with this same problem.

Less than 5% coverage seems to cause a lot of issues with these machines. I wish there was some sort of solution or work around because I get tired of vacuuming out machines every couple of months.

i agree on toner recycling assembly,being a common issue for toner builup.
there are two mylar "flaps" that separate inside and in a pinch you can crazy glue them back on after cleaning
the unit..also i always pull that sensor before vacuuming the drum cavity..

me thinks he means the main charge corona unit...Which I too would check,clean and even the rear connector too.
