    Sounds like they were previously used and not properly un-installed.

    PostScript cards are totally re-usable, but worthless if not properly removed from their prior home.

    That is why buying used ones is such a gamble. That's pretty much normal in those cases.

    what is the proper way to uninstall PS3 on a machine?

    I'm curious about the PS chips on these, I have one which is black and says Postscript3 Unit type M4 and has a code on it D1665005B
    Ive seen other ones that are blue nd says Postscript3 Unit type M4 and has a different code on it D1665005A

    Any idea what the difference is?

    There are only 2 sd cart slots in the machine. Customer could have a configuration where they need the adobe pdf card , Adobe postscript and Java ( extended features). In this scenario, you can put the adobe pdf and postscript cards in the machine and move the application from one card to the other via SP mode. So you essentially have 2 applications then on the same SD card. This frees up the bottom slot for the Java SD card. Essentially you have married the 2 sd cards. If you do not Un-merge them and put it in another machine, that is when you get that message.
    If it works, don't touch it.

    My guess would that D1665005 is the actual part number. A and B are revision letters as with firmware.
