    Ricoh MP201 PCU Replacement

    Good evening
I have a Ricoh Mp201Spf to which the CPU unit must be changed.
    I have two questions:
    1) I ordered the whole PCU block, I have to add the developer ?, or is it already included in the whole pcu block?
2)Once inserted, do I have to reset the PCU counter to make the PCU replacement signal disappear or do it automatically?

    Thank you

New pcu for the 201 comes with developer and there is a switch at the bottom of the pcu that let's the 201 know that the unit is new.

Simply install the unit (with the power off) and one switched on, the 201 will run the process control for a new pcu and set up the settings and clear the counter for this.

    Very easy.

New PCU detection is done through pins 6 & 7 of the connector the you have to plug in below the toner tray. I have not taken one apart to confirm but usually is a small fuse. When presence of the fuse is detected developer initialization is ran, developer counter is cleared and the fuse is then blown.

    Hi there!
The pcdu type 1515 has a mechanical reset near the rear gears, thereīs no fuse. On the MP 201 itīs better running sp2-801 after initialisation.
    Greetings...

Service manual section 4.6.1 PCU: Initialization: After you turn on the main power switch, the copier automatically initializes the new PCU.

    Agree.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only PCU I know of with the mechanical reset flag is the Type 1027?
    Also....SP2801 doesn't exist on MP171/201, etc.

There are 2 metal plates under the 171 series pcu. One of the gears keep them together (closed switch) until the main motor rotates the drum. The one plate will disengage because of a cutout in the gear collar and presto (open switch). The closed circuit signal yes the machine to prepare the new pcu.

I rebuilt plenty of these in bygone years and only the original pcu that comes with the new machine does not have these plates at all.
