MP C 3002 (black Toner) Toner not set correctly

Just installed a used MP c 3002, Black toner showed low. Customer installed new OEM Black toner. Machine displays " toner not set correctly".
We can put the old toner back in and it works, but shows low. Thinking a bad toner, I put a second OEM Black toner in, again "toner not set correctly"
Back to the original black tube, and is OK but low. ( and very little in the tube)

The "working" tube is dark gray in color and the new OEM tubes are white. Could this be a different type / chip. Printed on the working tube is Genuine Ricoh C3502p C5502p. what is the p for ?

I am using Genuine OEM Ricoh, not compatible. On the original (working) tube it also is labeled Ricoh Genuine, with the C3502p and C5502p.
The toners for the 3502 and 5502 are different. And I'm sure of the labeling.

I misread your solution, Is there a "Genuine Ricoh" toner versus OEM Ricoh ?

    Huh?
You're going to have to explain that one slim. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: MP C 3002 (black Toner) Toner not set correctly

After some investigation, This unit is a Ricoh Reman. for Latin America.

This takes a different Black toner for Reman versions ( #842201) not the standard Black 841735.

I assume it is an SP setting along with a different chip on the tube. Anyone have info on how to retro this to standard 3502 toner ?

Or a source for the reman toner ? ( Checked regarding compatibles, won't work, I'm in a jam)

i ve played around wth ricoh toners as at first i bought mpc3000 toner thinking i could use it in mpc3001..
What i did was take an original empty and pop the top cap wth the chip off and saw it on a full cartridge..
I dont know if it is wise to play with aftermarket toner wth the mpc3002 series, fusers are very picky......

    FS,

I have plenty of standard 3002 toner, my problem is the "Reman Ricoh 3002" says "Toner not set correctly"
Does anyone know if the chip has a counter and will stop after a certain page count or can I refill the current low but functional Cartridge ?

I would refill with genuine Black Ricoh MP C3002 of course.

The presence of the OEM on the one that that does not work is the give away. The term "Genuine Ricoh" in a either a registered trade mark or copyright of Ricoh. If you get a defective toner from Ricoh. Ricoh will replace it. An after market vendor might not do so.

my problem is the "Reman Ricoh 3002"
why not check with where you bought this from........
I dont know why ricoh would make a different toner for latin america..
I know a ton of lease returns go that way and these use regular NA toner.
it comes down to how much time you want to spend to make it work..
You can buy toner chips on ebayt and try thAT ROUTE
