Updating FW on a MPC3003 with a SOP panel

I just started to pick up MPC3003 AND MPC401SR with SOP panels.
iM prepping one to deliver this weekend and need to do the FW updates.
As I dont have the sd card SOP fw can i just update via the service mode?Is there anything you need to
do to access FW via the service mode?

I am not sure what that means..
I tried to update via Service mode and got E86 code..
Is the firmware update option in service mode one that connects via the web and downloads the needed FW?
I did not see anything in service manual.
I figure if you were using the sd card why would you need this in service mode..

There are a couple of ways for updating firmware over the internet. One is @Remote. A dealer after signing up to use @Remote can then install the Center GUI and use it to login to the @Remote Center server in Japan to schedule firmware update downloads and various reports. After you get notification that the download has been downloaded, you can then arraign a date and time with the customer to install them using the options in Service Mode.

I was hoping it was more like other electronics where you can just access FW updates through the service menu.
I am not a dealer nor have access to FW unless I find someone here or who
I use to work with to help me..

The MPC3003Zsp & MPC401Zsp have Gen 1 panels, later models with Gen 2 panels you can update the firmware from the SOP menu.

Why would they have FW UPDATE in the service mode menu ?
That confused as you dont service mode to update via sd card or using WIM .

Because, as slim said above, you need the Ricoh @remote service running to access the firmware.

You can update the firmware via WIM but you need to download the .rfu files first.
