    Toner Empty- MP C2503

I'm having an issue of toner depletion inside the Development unit of MP C2503. I began to force toner supply and the spiral gear inside the sub hopper gets twisted and been cut on its shaft due to the toner stocked at opening of the development unit. Toner sensor inside was never detecting physically toner empty. Any ideas? My next solution is updating engine firmware.

Replace the sub hopper and dev unit on the affected colour.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Why would you think firmware would fix it?

thanks for the responses. DV and PCU replaced but still toner get stocked on the opening.
No gears defective. DV clutch ok.
Why I had to suspect the firmware? because I am guessing, sensor on dv is not detecting toner. Could you suggest another stuffs?

    Hi there!
TonerMunkeh +1, the subhopper often tilts on 20erMetis-range (donīt like them very much). And updating the fw: all fw at the time, not single moduls !
    Greetings...

I agree with this, I have had to replace the sub hopper for this problem, no fun to replace, thing are kinda tight in the back of the machine. Bring a good flashlight and small hands.

    Sub hopper is your issue.

Each time i’ve had dv unit fail/seize the hopper stirrer has snapped.

dears, I've replace two sub-hoppers. It went snapped all of those. I repaired the 2nd hopper using a soldering iron and I decided to update firmware. Anyways. It was solved already. here's what I've done: Make sure to balance the toner inside the sub-hopper and inside the DV unit. make sure also to check the clogged of the tunnel-like connector of sub-hopper and DV unit kinda hard to reach inside.(requires long Screwdriver) and try to pay attention on the on New unit detection values on SP 3701. change it from 0 to 1 (PCU and Development). Customer is happy now.
