    MPC 6502 vs 6503

Hiya. This is more of a update from some engineers. Does anyone have any MPC 6503 / 8003 our there who use to have any MP c6502 / 8002’s ?

I wanted to know if they have improved anything if at all like the Toner consumption, Toner collection bottle filling up like mad or anything else relevant. Sometimes a newer machine is not always the way forward. Like the 5502 to the 5503. Yeah it looked better but that was it :0)

thanks for any info as I have a few customers wanting to upgrade from a MPC 6502 to the MPC 6503 and I dint think there was that much in it.

    Tim.

We have one MPC6503 in the field. The other tech here went to a call to it recently and said the waste toner bottle was nearly empty on it. It has about 20k color and 80k BW on it. Having said that it is owned by a newspaper and they do a lot of high coverage on it which might reduce the amount going into the waste from refreshes.

In the training module for it they mentioned that not only is the waste toner bottle 80% bigger, but the amount of automatic toner refreshing has been reduced and "optimized."

The yield per bottle on toner is lower at 30% coverage according to the supplies page on the C6503 vs the C6502. However, the waste toner collection bottle is larger.

The Charis C2 (MPC6503/8003) shits all over the Charis C1 (MPC6502/8002) in every way possible

Way less jamming issues, the drum cleaning units although rated at 300K will last double that, everything is so well built they are almost unbreakable.

I have a heap load of 03's I look after and hardly any service calls at all, the PM scheduling has dropped though by 200K on the ITB and fuser and 100K on the PTR and ITB cleaning but they just keep going and going.

Many of my devices are in law firms and most do over 100K a month and I couldn't be happier

BTW its $40 more expensive to order a complete fuser compaired to ordering all the individual bits, go figure

I agree. I think Ricoh learned from previous designs on this one. At least the C6502 was better than the machine which will not be named out of fear of it generating service calls.

Hi Storm. Thanks for the update. That’s much better than the 02 models but maybe they have emptied it a few times haha.

    Hi.
Does that’s mean it uses more Toner then?

That's a good joke there. Tell me another.

None of our customers are willing to do that kinda stuff. But in this case the machine is only a few blocks away from us so it's not a big deal.

I never investigated but did the 02 need the envelope feeder?
