MP501 Clicking paper lift motor Tray 1

I can feel it and hear it click loudly when it gets to the top of trying to drive. Like the flag is not getting to the photo interupter. It is def. in paper lift mechanism.

It will only click when paper is low. Install full or over a third of the way it does not do it.

I'm not to Knowledgeable with these. Anyone else have this. Going in for a closer look later today

Upper limit sensor appears to work. Sounds like a broken tooth on a lift motor gear.

It could be the nylon gears in the lift motor. Was common with the 50 - 90 PPM models. A couple of clicks followed by SC 50X where X is the tray number.

You may want to review this Technical Bulletin. Apparently, other techs are having the same issue.

yep you need to order the part in the tech pub. I did one about 4 months ago. takes about 2 hours. you have to remove the fuser, pcu, right and left covers, controller, power supply and duplex to remove the right side rail. the post were broken when I took it out. was doing same thing your describing. I could do another one and it wont take as long. jut had to read when taking things apart.
