I have an interesting issue going on. Long story short, I work for a company that manages a fleet of about 1150 Ricohs. There are quite a bit of machines that the WIM becomes "inaccessible" (about 25%). You can ping the machine, print to it, scan from it, fax to and from it, and connect via telnet. Only a reboot will allow the WIM to be accessible again. Well, @Remote needs to access the WIM in order to pull the counters. While the WIM is "inaccessible", it gives no errors. Nothing. Just the white background like it's loading. It appears to load some of the HTML as the title bar will say it is the WIM, but nothing ever loads. It doesn't matter which browser either.

I am hoping for either the fix for this issue or even a simple command line reboot command.

I have worked with their NOC and Ricoh directly. No one has any answers. Ricoh blames the company's network. This company's NOC blames Ricoh.

I would be satisfied with being able to create a script to reboot these machines via telnet when they need to be rebooted.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!
Have you tried a different browser? this issue can occur on konica minolta, using Chrome resolved it at one remote site.

I have. It doesn't matter which browser. I have also tried other PC's.

Other network applications than NRS or LDAP/NT authentication are not available when this SP is set to "2". Even though you can change the initial settings of those network applications, the settings do not work. WIM and @Remote are functions that do not work.

Already set to 1. Thanks for the input!

There are a number of security settings that can be made in user tools restrict who, if anyone, can access WIM. If overall security level is then returned to normal, custom settings remain in effect but are not displayed.

How would that explain the fact that the WIM is accessible after a reboot? Regardless of who and where they are coming from.

My idea for now is to connect my laptop directly to the Ricoh and see if I can hit the WIM. Someone told me once you can connect a roll over to the NIC and be able to access the Ricoh that way. If the WIM loads without a reboot, maybe it really is a network issue?

Unless both the copier and the laptop are both ancient, a cross over cable is not needed. Just set an IP address for the laptop that is on the same sub net as the copier and use a patch cable.

I just wonder if some network security software isn’t monitoring network activity, then shutting down any connection that it feels is “inappropriate”.

That would explain why it works after a reboot, then croaks shortly thereafter.

The direct connect from your notebook would be a huge help. If it connects and stays connected, that pretty much screams that it’s a network issue.
