    Interesting WIM Issue

    Hey all,

I have an interesting issue going on. Long story short, I work for a company that manages a fleet of about 1150 Ricohs. There are quite a bit of machines that the WIM becomes "inaccessible" (about 25%). You can ping the machine, print to it, scan from it, fax to and from it, and connect via telnet. Only a reboot will allow the WIM to be accessible again. Well, @Remote needs to access the WIM in order to pull the counters. While the WIM is "inaccessible", it gives no errors. Nothing. Just the white background like it's loading. It appears to load some of the HTML as the title bar will say it is the WIM, but nothing ever loads. It doesn't matter which browser either.

I am hoping for either the fix for this issue or even a simple command line reboot command.

I have worked with their NOC and Ricoh directly. No one has any answers. Ricoh blames the company's network. This company's NOC blames Ricoh.

I would be satisfied with being able to create a script to reboot these machines via telnet when they need to be rebooted.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm sure Ricoh advised to have the firmware to be updated?

Yeah, my bad. We did update a few as a test. Nothing. Also, it occurs across multiple models. 4500's, 4502's, 4503's, and I think I saw a 4504 or two have this issue. A short bit ago, we compared network configuration of a location not having this issue against a location having this issue and all the configurations were the same. Aside from IP addresses...

Check the setting of SP5985-001. It should be set to 1. This allows full IP access. If it is set to 2 it is set for Function limitation. When the "Function limitation" is set, "On board NIC" is limited only for the NRS or LDAP/NT authentication. Other network applications than NRS or LDAP/NT authentication are not available when this SP is set to "2". Even though you can change the initial settings of those network applications, the settings do not work. WIM and @Remote are functions that do not work.

Is this done at the user interface or can it be done in the WIM?

It is done from the control panel by going into system SP.

Nothing like potentially needing to physically touch over 1,000 machines.

Someone had to touch them when they were delivered and setup.

You can access SP mode via the WIM on the 04 series using the remote app.
