Correct. So as Davel suggested, use FTP- which is non-firmware dependent and VERY reliable, or scan to email

Think again, it is available from Ricoh-USA which their end user site. The latest network TWAIN driver is Ver. 4.37.01 Released Date: 12/18/2012. There is also a network WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) driver available.

The customers' IT says that the best for him is if I would update the firmware, I can't find it on the Ricoh downloads, anyone can help me with it (send me the update)?

    Thanks

You can simply create a gmail account then use this to set up scan to email or even easier scan to a USB pen then transfer to your PC etc.

SMB scan to folder will work after after you update the firmware give me a shout if you need it.

All these methods can send a file as a .pdf.

Not if SMB and FTP are blocked by firewall or Microsoft security update. Customer IT, for security reasons, may not want to make the registry changes needed to make push to folder scan work. TWAIN and WIA are pull scans the same as what stand alone scanners use.
