    Firmware Updating

    Hi,

just wondering what peoples opinions are on updating firmware on Ricoh Models with the Smart Panel through the Application Site App. When it comes to firmware updates i stick to the tried and tested SD Card method. In regards to the Application Site Firmware Updates though..is it reliable? has anyone had issues doing it this way?

    Thanks for any feedback.

I still use the SD card method, mainly because it s faster you can pre prepare the .pkg & not have to wait around on site while it downloads etc.

If you are updating the firmware to correct a problem, I would not depend on package firmware only. Package firmware only replaces those firmware modules updated since the last previous package.

I rather use ARFU method then Application site method. As far as I know application site does not do engine update which is one of the most important modules to update. I agree with other guys I still reckon sd card method is best.

Agreed. If its not doing the engine update then why bother.

Don't forget to use Internet Exploder when downloading firmware from my-ricoh. It has a yellow bar on the firmware that is newer than the one in the package. Firefox and Chrome don't show this.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

    Re: Firmware Updating

The ARFU botched a bunch of updates on older Metis models rocking the V1 smart panel recently. Ricoh has a directive to enable it or at least have @remote enabled on capable machines but I have seen it brick 8 machines in one day where I had to manually update the firmware to the correct firmware.
