I presume by look of prints, you are talking/comparing HP black & white machine(pls correct if I am wrong, if so then it could be some different solution) with Ricoh color machine.

the machines that we used in printing the sample prints in the attachments are both color machines. I am wondering why Ricoh is printing the black text as image.

If it is printing it as an image, it is because the computer is sending it as an image. If you want us to analyze color print quality of the C4500 for you then send us a sample printout of something that we are used to analyzing such as Printer SP 1103-2 color pattern test print.
