Ricoh MP C4503 C5503 C6003 wax lubricant bar

Was at the wholesaler and another tech mentioned to me that there was a Ricoh bulletin on the importance of removing a spring for the wax lubricant bar when installing a PCU. If you don't , it can cause early wear / lines in the drum surface.
Signed on to TSRC but couldn't find that info under Service bulletins. Does anyone have a copy of that info?

He also mentioned a fix for tray one jams by using a gear from the c2503 instead of the gear in the C4503/5503 but I doubt there is a bulletin on that.....sounds like he came up with his own fix for tray 1 jams.

    Your feedback appreciated.

I think the other tech was referring to the attached file when replacing a pcdu. It's in the service manual. I don't know about the tray 1 gear. pcdu replacement.pdf

Thanks for responding.............I saw that in the service manual also. Instructions for releasing the spring pressure for the C5503 (D149) and C6003 (D150) only. It seems like he was referring to some other procedure or bulletin though. But you may be right. If you are correct......interesting that it doesn't say to do this to the C4503's

You get instructions in the box with every new PCU, inexperienced engineers simply fit the drum without checking this sheet thus drum wears out prematurely.

Metis series has an excellent pickup/feed system so I would not try & improve something thst works!

Howver I do fit the AF030094/1094/2094 rollers to the Metis MPC2xxx series, more expensive but the life is 10 fold.

Yes, that sounds like what he was referring to. You release the lubricant bar tension by removing a spring. Location---------is it at the rear of the pcu?

The spring is located in the central area of the PCU. Again instructions are provided with each new drum unit so you cant go wrong!

Got it............So Totoro must be correct. It has to be the illustration he provided from the service manual. And a installation sheet included with each PCU also shows the info. Thanks again to both of you.

You don't actually remove the spring. You lessen the tension. Only on the 55 and 60 speed machines.

This is an important step it really does shorten the life of the PCU & given the cost of them for a 5 second spring hook release!

Even on the slower speed Machines we move the springs. Ridiculous not to. 1/10th of its "expected" yield (270k) if you don't.
