MP6002 doc fdr jam code J056 registration senor off, but it works?

Here's what it does, it will start out running fine, then as the day goes on it stops and displays the code.

Here's what I've done. I ran a 15 page set. On the third time I ran it, the code came up. So I put 1 page in the feeder.
Ran that and it would run a couple of times and stop with the J056 code.
The paper stops in the exit path with just about 1/2" of the lead edge sticking out and about the same amount of the trail edge
sticking out toward the platen where it enters the exit path.
It does this on single and double sided scans.
On single side the image that comes out is missing about 1/3 of the image on the trail edge.

I have replace the feed, p/u and sep rollers. Cleaned the other transport rollers and sensors. Took out the Registration sensor and cleaned it too.
Checked the sensors with the I/O program and they all seem to work. I also lubed the idler rollers for the belt that drives the platen belt assembly.
    And no joy!!
They do a lot of scanning. I know the total print/copy count is about 560K. I have had very little trouble with this machine so I have not done
    very much to it.
Has anyone ran into this on this model??

    Thanks

    DR

Paper lint or dust buildup on the registration sensor black reference prevents proper recognition of the trail edge of the paper. Clean it. In case you did not already know a sensor off jam indicates paper trail edge.

    Thank you Slimslob,
I found that very thing out today after cleaning the one way bearings. It still gave the same code.
So, thinking I had a flaky sensor I swapped the registration sensor with the skew sensor. That is when
I noticed the pad was full of paper lint. I used a can of air and cleaned it out. And it worked fine.
That key piece of info was the last piece of the puzzle.
    Now I can sleep tonight.

Wish I'd looked closer at it Friday when I took out the registration sensor for cleaning.

    Thanks again

I have had machines located in portable office trailers on job sites in the middle of oilfields. High dust locations. Black reference need frequent cleaning.

I sometimes carry a sharpie to darken the pads that get chronically dirty and cannot be cleaned well enough.

And I happen to carry a sharpie. Good suggestions both.
Funny, this is the second machine this customer bought new from me.
The first a 7502. Had very few problems. They kept it for 11 years, put
1.1mil on it. So they got another this 6002. Same frame. I like it.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
