Re Chlorine and iron.
Yes chlorine rusts iron, hydro-chloric acid is by far a lot quicker.
As you probably know, Ferric-chloride eats copper rapid, this is how circuit board tracks are etched.
Interesting point though BC.
I wounder if chlorinated water rusts/oxidises the iron inside the human body. Could this oxidise effect be a cause of anaemia(lost of iron/minerals) in some people ????
Chlorine is neutralised by sunlight, but how much sunlight for how long before we should drink the city tap water? Here in our location the "water board" places "booster cylinders" of chlorine directly inline with residential housing water mains. Those booster cylinders of solid chlorine have no reaction to sunlight before the water comes out of the house tap. Does this chlorine create an oxidising effect within the iron of a person body before it has a chance to react with sunlight ?
An of cause every other chemical placed into the city water supply. Eg. Aluminum Oxide (Al-Ox). Fluoride.
Our water supply comes out pure white some days. We have to run the tap for a few minutes just to wash.
