Question Ricoh MP-301 locked out of menu features

I sold my first MP-301 to a local dentist, and their IT guy set it up to scan to folder. Worked fine for the first 90 day, then the customer tried to set it up to scan to Email and the scan feature quit working. The customer brought their IT guy back, and he threw his arms in the air, and passed it back to me. I am now unable to access some features in the user tools menu, like setting the IP address. We tried doing a memory clear SP5-801-11 and all that did was reset the IP address. I apologize if this should be an easy answer, but I'm stumped, can you help me?

    Thanks,

    Robin

I have run into this with the 301 before. In my case it was a firmware upgrade that took care of it.

EDIT: Had something to do with the SMB 2/3 updates. Just like your case, we were unable to get into interface settings and such.

Most likely cause is using a fixed MFD IP address in/along side all the other computer DHCP assigned IP address on the network.
If the customer turns their computers on first before the MFD, then the DHCP server will assign their computers/roaming laptop to the fixed MFD IP address.

Reserve the MFD fixed IP address at the DHCP server, or use DHCP on the MFD itself, an use hostnaming convention for the MFD IP addressing.

Alternatively, turn off all DHCP, an assign fixed IP addresses for "ALL" devices on/entering the network.

Did the IT guy set an Admin password?

Also as stated update the firmware.

I've had this where you can't get into the network settings on the panel to change the IP, it had the wrong LCD firmware installed, make sure you have D1271498C installed

He swears it's their policy not to change a default password, and he knew it was supposed to be Admin and blank, but we're also unable to access the logon button.

Most of this went over my head, but I'm going to try and figure this out.

    Thanks

Have you confirmed if the IP address has an access control range setup? Go to the copier and go to user tools. Then go to Printer features, and you will see an option for config page. Upload that here so I can have a quick look.

I don't have a config page, but I'm going back tomorrow and will print one. I do have a win test print page, attached.

    Thanks again for your help.
