MPC 3002 swapping out all boards

    Hi
I have 2 mpc 3002 which I must merge the parts to make one.
The 1st is low meter 80k but all the internal metal has "pitted" and there
iare issues where the wonderful warehouse "techs" walked allover the top of machine and warped the
    top frame,smashed the control panel...
The other is high vol.400k and clean and complete.
If I swap the whole controller boxes do i still need to address different serial numbers?
I will print out both smc sheets and will re calibrate dev units and laser if needed.
    AM I missing anything here?

the controller board and bcu serial numbers have to match. Different hard drives will give you address error so you will have to format it. You can change serial number in the factory mode.

Cool Re: MPC 3002 swapping out all boards

400k is nothing. the machine will ask for the sn it wants, and it will recognize a hdd swap and format. make sure to replace dv units for blank lines.

Just make sure you use the serial number that is on the serial number label on the back of the machine.

Hell no. Print the counter page from each machine to get the true serial number.

I would highly recommend that you enter SP mode on both machines before you start swapping boards and print 5-990-001 on both machines first and then do 5-801-003 all the way to the last one and then 5-832-001 and lastly Facsimile Ram clear Factory.

It's not like the old days when there was a barcode on the scanner stay that you could swap to make it work.

The new machines need matching Eprom & NVRAM data and I can see a future with SOP where board swapping will be prohibited.

What is the issue with the higher count model "clean & complete" why the need to swap boards?

When I worked for a Sharp dealer in the 1990's we figured out a way to zap the total counter back to zero so the sales department could feed there family selling crap.

All i am doing is making two into one..
    a 60k meter unit into a 600k unit..
The parts that matter will reflect real meter so why not?
