Dirty laser shield glass. There should be a blue tool mounted on the inside of the front door for cleaning the shield glasses. I have also encountered foreign matter on the glass.

I second the dirty laser glass. However if you clean the glass and the blank lines persist it is almost always a bit of trash under the doctor blade in the development unit. Have seen it many times and these are not able to vacuum and refill developer like the older devices.
