    Connecting ad-hoc Ricoh MPC2503SP issue

    Hi All,

I have an issue connecting and printing to the Ricoh mpc2503 from my pc. I have installed IEEE 802.11a/g/n Interface Unit Type M2 on Ricoh and set MPC2503 to ad-hoc mode with no security key setup. However Connecting and printing from iPhone is no problem. When I try connecting to Ricoh from my pc its says 'cant connect to this network' even though its broadcasting. I'm lead to believe that connecting and printing from pc ad-hoc method should work. My OS is windows 10 pro.

the Ricoh will need to be configured manually to connect to your wireless network. It will need the ssid, password, etc. You may also need to change the channel, the default for the Ricoh wireless is 11. Your router may be on a different channel.

I have done plenty of these, most of our guys hate doing the wireless installs...

    hi jonhiker,

In this instance im not connecting to router. I only want to directly connect my pc to the Ricoh (as the host) not through wifi network if that makes sense.

Depending on your region, you have to select the ad-hoc channel from user tools, and from the SP 5840-006 and 007 respectively.

Are you referring to something like AirPrint ?
Airprint sets up its own isolated network address range. You will need to find what network address/subnet range the AirPrint is using.

    Some network examples might be.
    Eg. 10.1.1.1
    Eg. 10.1.2.1

    Eg. 192.168.1.1
    Eg. 192.168.2.1

Use Ping.exe to play around those ranges or use other network identifier software.

make sure your machine is not trying to use IPv6, as updates are causing this to be first protocol. You can go into properties and turn it off and see if it connects (it will then default to v4). Try to ping it; look at the channel its broadcasting over as well as if its using WEP or other, look at those

I think you mean connecting via an ethernet cable directly to your PC?
Depending on the age of your pc it should just be a matter of setting the copier to an address within range of your pc.
You might have to use a crossover cable depending on the age of your pc.

If you want to connect just one pc to the copier is it close enough to simply run a LAN cable or even USB?
If not get the wifi to connect to the same wifi your pc is on.

Why do you need to use ad-hoc, does the customer not have a wireless router. Never used ad-hoc myself, make sure PC and device are on static IP and channels match.
