Is it still possible to print via USB on the latest Ricoh xx04 series? Seems strange now they’ve removed the standard USB-B socket.

Yes, you just have to buy the Extended USB Board.
Looks like USB-B won't be standard going forward - it's been missing on every newer box I've seen.
Hooray, paying extra for old features!
And when was the last time you saw a new MFP with a Centronics parallel port?
That really is old but USB is still very much current, have you heard of the latest USB 4.0 version?
We also have military Metis machines that only use USB mainly for security. (Not networked)
I have a customer that brings his laptop in from home, walks up & plugs it in via usb to print, that was on an MPC3003, they’ve now upgraded to an xx04 but no USB-B socket!
Tried to explain other options but hes “old school” and that his preference.

I have setup at most 3 or 4 MFP using USB printing in the last 15 years. And those have been in homes. Why pay for a feature that no one will use. When you do have a customer with the need, you sell them the options.
As for USB 4.0, its capacity would be wasted om printing. Even USB 1 could send data faster than most printers can print it.
