Rocked up toner in developer unit

I had a bad toner cartridge that contained rocked up toner. This got in the development unit and causes multiple white lines on copies. What is the best way to get the toner rocks cleaned out of the developer unit? This is a Ricoh mp c4503

You can use a fine sieve. It does not matter that it is metal as the developer itself is not magnetic. We have used this method multiple times with machines that had clots develop in their toner like the mpc305.

Had the same thing happen to 2 of our MP C4503's. The only fix is to replace toner bottle and dev unit. Just remember to clean out the toner hopper before you use the new dev unit.

I dont know,i get change the toner bottle,,a given but dev unit for clumps..
Unless you ran it to the ground and scratched the mag roller and destroyed all the auger roller seals,
I say dump the unit on a big news paper and use a sieve or fine screen..
there are some aftermarket bags of developer you could try to..

If it's just one or two larger rocks ... no big deal. But if it's hundreds of small partially fused developer/toner stones, it's nearly impossible to get them all. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

We usually just replace the whole DV unit... saves a whole bunch of time and less mess

Re: Rocked up toner in developer unit

Rocked toner from bottle is a different ball game.I believe that replacing a development module is one part but it is equally important to be sure of toner pump.If rocks have found their way into the pump or its delivering pipes it will get choked and can make the replacement of the development module exercise an inefficient process.
If i were you,I would check the function of the pump and its toner delivery before the Development module changeover.
    Thanks for reading.

I think it is usefull to carefully instruct the customer to shake the toner botlle well enough before replacing it:
"Double so much as you would do spontaneous, miss Spencer..."
