Mpc4500 file transfer screen will not populate

This customer called and said the machine won't print or scan, when I went in to check the settings for the file transfer the screen was blank would not populate at all

Is there a "ready" notification on the copy screen?
Are the fax and scan shortcut buttons beeping at you when you try to use those features?
I'd format the HDD if any of the above are the case.

faulty HDD Drive i would try formatt or install a new one,had it a few times on the model.
