Wide Format Ricoh W5100 Saving email address to sd card

I had my customer reformat their HDD (SP5832-001) due to a rare/first time SC-865.
It got the machine up and running but the IT guy threw a temper tantrum because all the email addresses had been erased.
Is the SC-865 just a fluke, or should I think about replacing the HDD ?
Can I save the addresses to an SD card? In case it happens again.
Please forgive my mis-understanding of what is probably a simple answer, but we are exclusively Wide Format and rarely see stuff like this.

ASSuming the machine has an IP addy.. the prissy IT guy has FULL ACCESS ( as long as you provided the ACCT n PASSWORD for the admin account!
IMHO you should have been on site and backed up ALL vital info... ' Go and Learn ' good motto!
the IT guy could have saved all those files if he had 'remoted' into the unit ( basic IT shit)

Has to be done before the HDD errors. Now there are HDD recovery services that may be able to get the information since HDD format merely clears the drive indices. They are quite expensive and take a couple of weeks. IT should have been making backups through WIM. So since as soon as the SC-865 occurred the address book was gone it is in their court for not making backups.

Why did your user know how to access SP modes. +1 on WIM backup.
