    mp4001 sometimes offline (ping ok)

When it is "offline", no scan or print is possible, but pinging is succesfull.
This happens about 2 times a week.
Can this problem be due to a bad controller, or a network problem?
    thanks for your input!
Also: prints form host A between prints from host B.
    Any solution?

    Thank you !!!!

Hi, this looks a lot like a DNS problem. When you're offline, they do not work.

In the scan enter the IP address and not the host name.

Might be an IP conflict with a device that is not there all the time such as an outside sales person's mobile device or remote access thru a VPN.

Sounds like normal operation. Jobs are printed in the order received. If host A's job is sent before host B's second job, it will print between the jobs.

    Slim, you write:
"Sounds like normal operation. Jobs are printed in the order received. If host A's job is sent before host B's second job, it will print between the jobs."

    But, this is the situation:
A few seconds after print job A another host sends printjob B.
The problem now is that the pages of printjob B are stacked between the sheets of printjob A...
So customer needs to sort out job b from jab a...

    This i told customer:
    1. erase the oldest printfile (blocking the rest) because it will probabely be a attachment off email
    2. WSD port or Class driver = bad
    3. "use printer offline" needs to be off!
    4. reset print spooler
Can a controller be sometimes good, and sometimes go offline?
Or is it more like: "it works, or it don't works"
    ?

Use the Ricoh PCL 6 Driver and set spooling to on advanced tab to start printing after last page is spooled on all computers. This way if a page is slow to spool another job will not get in front of it. If you have a server on the network, send all printing through the server. The server will handle all spooling and job separation.

This does not sound like a controller problem. Usually it works or it does not.

    Re. Suspected Hardware fault.

Assuming the copier is local to the building and on the same network:

From a CMD window continuously ping the copier from the problem PC eg. "ping -t" .
(Assuming the problem PC is also virus free.)
    Example : Ping 10.1.1.254 -t

Press CTRl-C to stop the ping command.

Wait an see if there are any discrepancies in the result echo reply timing.

If there are large delays in the results you many have a hardware issue. ie NIC ,Switch or Router problem.

NB. Use "tracert" if you want to see the route hops.

Yes I have witness an office network switch fail. The switch would randomly take PC's offline.
While testing the switch there where large delays in the ping command.
The switch die not long after we stress tested it (day or two) an the item was replace. There was no further issues on the network.

I've seen my own home network switch fail similar as well...
