    SCAN TO FOLDER (MP 2554)

Guys, I need your ideas on this matter.

The client has several Ricoh machines like MPC 2051, MP 3055 and MP 2554. Using same network configuration except IP address for the printer, same public folder in the server, port used is 445 and same user log in and password, the scanning to folder does not work in MP 2554. Firmware is already updated yet scanning fails. Scanning only fails in MP 2554.Any ideas?

Is SMB 2 and port 445 selected on MP 2554? Domain? DNS?

DNS and domain name are the same as other machines. Port 445 is selected when I print the configuration page.

Got a tech support call 6 months back, on a 04 series machine. It only worked when the FQDN of the destination was set. Might as well try?

It could be that the mp2554 has no persmission for entering that folder because documentserver has not yet put this scanner on his safe list.

As I checked the MP 3055 configuration setting, there is no domain name entered but still the scan to folder is working. How come that scan to folder in MP 2554 is not working even I copied the same configuration of MP 3055? Even I put domain name in MP 2554, still scan to folder is not working.

In MP 3055, the DNS is in auto-obtain, scan to folder is working.
In MPC 2051, DNS is manually specified, scan to folder is working.
In MP 2554, even you set DNS to static or in auto-obtain, scan to folder is not working.

When i set the IP address of MP 2554 to auto-obtain, the range of the IP is 10.251.29.xx
When set to static IP , the IP address given by the IT is 10.251.28.xx

I thought that is the problem, so I checked the MP 3055. I set the IP address to auto-obtain, and the range of IP address is 10.251.29.xx
The IP address of MP 3055 when it is in static IP is 10.251.28.xx

There is no difference in the configuration setting of MP 3055 and MP 2554 except the machine IP, but scan to folder is not working in MP 2554 only.

Sounds like what a couple of my large customers did with their networks. All printers were on a different subnet than the computers.

Re: SCAN TO FOLDER (MP 2554)

Have you tried scanning to the IP address instead of The PC name, or vice versa ?
I have a couple of locations that just won't accept anymore destinations using the PC name as the destination, and scanning fails. I add new destinations using the IP address and it's all good.
I've never understood it, or been able to resolve it.
At first I thought that it may be due to a limit on the number of sub-folders or something like that because there are 30-40 folders, but then I had the same issue at a locations where there are only 3 sub folders and it wouldn't scan to the 4th (or any more) unless I used the IP address.
It's very strange, because even if I delete a few folders and then try to add them again and use the PC name, it won't work

Have you tried just updating the SMB v2/v3 firmware? (rfg077245)

    ...worth a shot.
