Ricoh MP C4000 ADF image problem

Hi guys. I have a weird problem with a mp c4000. It prints perfectly, from the exposure glass it copies great but from adf it makes this weird background on half the page. If I scan from the adf, the background does not appear on the scanned image. I attached the scanned prints and copies. First page is a test pattern, second is a copy from exposure glass and the third and fourth are copies from the adf. Any ideeas are welcome. Thank you.

On all three of the copies I am seeing a line that indicates lint or a spot of dust on a mirror. On the copy from the glass I can see cyan background on one edge which cyan toner on the bottom of the platen glass. The ADF copies appear that there is massive toner on the slit glass.

The platen glass and mirros are clean. Can it be from something else than the scanner if the print is ok? Just to know where to dig.

Check the gray balance settings on the birth certificate.
That tends to give you a cyan background if it's out of whack.
    SP4-609-001(Book scan)
    SP4-609-002(DF scan).
Check all the settings against the birth certificate down to SP4-611-002.

Ugh......the list of factory default settings that came with the machine from the factory.
It usually lives under the front door card.
I take it you're not a Ricoh tech?

    wow!

the "BC" is the printed page under an inner front cover that has all BIAS and other settings for the machine...

many 'techs' go in screwing with settings.. forgot what they did.. the BC helps them to revert the machine back to before their FauxPaux.

if you aren't sure about this.. maybe get a service manual and READ before attempting ANY service.

I have spent countless hours trying to 'repair' what another tech fucked up.

If everything is properly clean and all settings, then it is either the SBU or IPU. The SBU is the board on the back on the lens and you have to replace the entire lens block assembly D0291771. The IPU is part of the BICU board. Considering the age of the MP C4000, you might be better off to replace it with something new.
