Don't forget to update the print drivers. I have seen a brand new PCL6 driver cause this code with a particular document on one machine but print the same document from another computer to the same copier and not code out. Install the PCL driver on the computer giving the problem and everything works fine.

    Re: sc 670-672 database

I just went to run a mpc400sr that i picked up a few weeks back and it was working and booted up fine at
the warehouse b4 I wrapped it up and moved it and now that dreaded sc672.......
I pulled the control panel connectors and reseated both to panel and to the rear brds and removed the fax option BUT that did nothing......
    hmmmmm..
Does it seem like a loose connector somewhere?
Also I know there was a bulletin for energy saver on the mpc401 for this code.
Is there one for the mpc400sr?
    thanks

This has been a bad year with these SC 672's popping up especially on the MP C 4504's. Since most of your have tried difference replacement of parts, what l have been doing is by starting off the obvious. Open and close the front door of the printer, if you hear the engine running then it is the hard drive. If you do not hear it running then it is the controller. In most cases with the controller replacement the hard drive need to be replaced. Very few times l got lucky with updating the firmware on the SOP but this is just luck l guess.
I have seen a few of these printers with power up codes, this is regarding to spikes that affect the power supply. Check the surge filter for a red light, if this is the case. Remove the printer power cord to another wall outlet and monitor the power up codes from the SMC log.
I would appreciate any other feed back as these controllers are not cheap to replace, almost $1800.
