There is a TSB for this exact issue. Good luck tho, it involves pulling the toner pumps I believe - Which is NO FUN at all.

Let me look up the TSB real quick......

SUBJECT: TONER REPLACEMENT ALERT DOES NOT CLEAR / SC361 OCCURS
SYMPTOM:The following symptoms may occur: Toner replacement alert does not clear after replacing the Toner Cartridge. SC361.
CAUSES:This Symptom has two causes, and both causes an SC361 may also be triggered.

Yep, pretty much have to replace the toner hopper assy for the affected color. I suggest replacing all 4 while you have it that far apart. Im guessing its the black or yellow that wont load.........usually one of those 2

Good luck, let me know if you need a copy of the TSB

First time you think “are you kidding me” but actually it is an ok job, but it takes up alot of space
change it all when you are in there. The contact board is probably bend in pins too.
Please start you post with brand, model, problem.

I would update ALL firmware before you start spending hours stripping it down replacing parts.

Take out the toner with the issue shine a torch into the back & check the contact pin is not bent, quite hard to see compare with another colour.

I’d also try another new toner bottle had a few faulty chips over the years

+1 for trying another toner bottle. We have been seeing a fair number of bottles with bad chips in them.

If firmware was kept up to date on every call, we would do a lot less troubleshooting, but most techs that I know won't take the time to update firmware until there is a persistant problem, then they just update the piece of firmware involved, not everything that's out of date. Frustrating.

Re: MP C305 Toner not set correctly?

Hate these machines. Have replaced many of the toner hoppers (too many) and now I could almost do it in my sleep. We started telling our sales people a few years ago to STOP selling them and pull the one's that were out and replace with different models. Horrible machines.

When you remove the affected toner from the machine, is the chute on the bottle open? If so, it could be one of the white "hooks" that engage that chute has a broken spring (shine light into toner cavity, and they're almost all the way to the rear).
We have had many bad chips on these bottles (and the newer 306/307 toners too).
Most commonly is the toner hopper auger getting mangled.
Have also had luck vacuuming out the cavity (really well) and cleaning the post that goes into toner bottle chip.
Not a bad idea to update f/w.
