    price policy Ricoh

    mpc3002 universal tray (tray 2):

D5802900 159€ list price for the assembly
D5802946 357€ list price for only the front cover

Answer Ricoh: "maybe not logical, but correct"

    Re: price policy Ricoh

Don't try to apply logic to some of Ricoh's pricing. There are examples of PDCUs (and other units) being cheaper than a PM kit for said assembly.

Why are some things barely marked up while others are at 1200%? Dunno. Why does something that *should* be inexpensive come up as 'send your first born' and other items that *should* be expensive aren't.

You really want a cherry for that cake? Ricoh USA pricing is half that in USD.

We have found other instances of this as well. Before we found complete fusing units that were cheaper than the belt or hot roller we needed.
    So yes. This does happen.

It is a good practice to compare prices and not just assume that the lose parts will be cheaper always.

In most instances when Ricoh charges more for a part for a component than for the component itself that they recommend replacing the component.

    Re: price policy Ricoh

Rule of thumb in our office has been that when you find that the pricing for a complete unit/assembly is 'fantastically", "unbelievably" better than a sub assembly from Ricoh you keep it to yourself and don't share it - otherwise, Ricoh may catch their mistake and correct it all the sooner. An example was in the early days of the MP C2500 the complete PCDU's were actually priced cheaper than either the PCU or Dev Unit individually. It made no sense to order the PCU or Dev unit - unfortunately, after about 6 months Ricoh caught their mistake and adjusted the price of the PCDU's accordingly.
