    Mp 2851 background

i having a problem where you make one or two prints or copies and every thing is OK. if you make more then that. the image is there but background gets darker and darker. happens after about 2500 to 5000 copies. We have swap photo conductor /laser unit/ and i think tech also swap hv board but not sure. I have two copiers doing it now. One we were able to swap and took care of it that way. Has anybody seen this before. I think might be charge area causing problem but not sure. any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Genuine Toner / Dev.?
Sounds like a symptom of something generic?
Have you initialized the dev after PCU replacement?
I've personally never seen anything like that in this series going all the way back to AF220/270 thru MP3053, etc.

My only thoughts would be a grounding problem, either drum shaft or development unit. Might also be a continuity problem to the charge roller or even the HVPS.

Do you use original Ricoh products?
You need to replace all the drum parts (not only develop, drum and blade) at the same time.

Old machine could be any number of issues, I would start with 1027 PCU and a transfer roller

I agree with Davel and would be trying a 1027 complete pcu to rule out any issues with the existing pcu.
