We're an authorized Ricoh dealer and we don't have access to the @Remote servers.
We've asked and Ricoh stonewalls us.
We have a program that monitors meters and toner levels...but not hardware.
Remote Service and Panel Connect won't work for us because...we're not Ricoh.
We'd have to phone each customer and tell them how to access SP modes and print out a pm counter and scan it to us....not gonna happen lol.
There are other ways such as the software some called PIPS. You can see meter readings and know when a part is at life then make notes on the system to say fitted at 200k for example.
Besides the point I think Ricoh are trying to cut costs on engineers but this just isn't going to work out, especially not for dealers like me. I've already told my MD that Ricoh are doing this for a reason but I said would you trust yourself to fit this £500 part without causing any damage to it etc because if you knock the drum ever so slightly and cause dots on your prints you can bet your ass Ricoh will not warranty that.
Engineers will always be needed so don't worry about it
This could just be a one-off but one of my engineers attended a call (miles away) for an IMC 3500A that is squeeking. He said it was only when duplexing must most of their prints are defaulted to duplex. He greased a load of stuff and it went away but an hour later they phoned back with same problem, so i'll have to go there early next week to look at it. Anyone else had this yet?
