    Ricoh MP 6001

Customer was complaining that the tray 1 elevator doesn't always lift the paper when it is full of paper. They have to remove most of the paper for it to lift and then it starts working again. I tested out the machine but had no problems with the elevator lifting the paper. Do the lift motors go out in this machine.. I know it is old but the customer really likes this machine. Thanks in advance

First thing I would do is make sure the elevator tray and the two metal guides it slides up along are not bend. I've seen many of those guides get bowed outwards and cause the lifted part of the tray to bind up. If that's fine I'd check the cables that lift the tray are in good shape and properly routed. If that checks out then I'd repeatedly make it try to lift a 3/4 full tray several times in a row to see if you hear anything from the motors or can get it to fail.

Tray 1 is not a LCT.
Everything wore out, also a lift motor.
Even better is to sell a new machine...

Tray 1 is usually a tandem tray which takes more paper than a normal tray so it does have large capacity.
