sp 5210sr staple unit troubleshooting

i just pulled the panels on this unit that
had staple unit constantly firing from broken wire grounding to frame .
I removed all excess staples,staple unit,respliced the broken wires.
Upon assembly i ran some teat runs and machine does not staple nor does the exit motor turn.
It was a black wire below the sorter tray.
I have not pulled the covers again but you think that short took out a board

there is no history on this machine as i just bought it and knew it had some issues before buying it.

i decided to try a sorter brd but dont have any for the sp 5210 sr but do have for a mpc400sr which look the same..
I will lay them side by side and ck.
If not sorter brd then i guess BICU then.
The adf s are identical too..anyone try to cross over models?

Just because they look the same, the boards may not be interchangeable. Check the part numbers. You may need to replace the harness, not just repair it.

According to the parts manuals the main control PCB for the finishers on both of those has the same part number M3665124. They also have the same firmware files. That said I'd take a picture of the dip switch settings on the old 5210sr board and make sure your donor board matches before installing it.

i figured i d match the dip switches from the original i will be swapping out..

well i got around to pulling the staple brd and danmm connectors were not easy to pull off.
Looking at the 5210 sorter brd i foung the big IC101 was fried on a few "legs" and found the top dip switches were different than the mpc401sr brd i replaced to repair it.
Now it sorts and staples and ready to be adopted out$$$$
