When the optics are moving they make a squeal noise. i have been using Plus Guard to put a lite coating on front and rear rails. i t works for a while then starts up again is there something better to use for this problem.

In my experience it only makes noise on the return to home and does not cause image quality issues, so is really an annoyance more than problem.
Make sure the plastic pads that ride on the rails are clean and only use the slightest hint of light oil on the rails. I actually use ATF and rarely get repeat calls for this.

Launa oil is what Ricoh puts on them at the factory and is what they say to use on squeeky units. You can buy it from Ricoh VSSA9001 and but it's pricey. Or you can get it online.
I have also had this problem on 54 series machines. I imagine that the scanner unit is the same between the two models.
