    MP C3003 optics noise

When the optics are moving they make a squeal noise. i have been using Plus Guard to put a lite coating on front and rear rails. i t works for a while then starts up again is there something better to use for this problem.

    Thanks

This has been a known issue for many years.

In my experience it only makes noise on the return to home and does not cause image quality issues, so is really an annoyance more than problem.

Make sure the plastic pads that ride on the rails are clean and only use the slightest hint of light oil on the rails. I actually use ATF and rarely get repeat calls for this.

I found that the Berretta (SP?) fuser grease for the Ricoh fuser works real well .. HI TEMP and lasts a longer time.
Are you sure there is no metal>metal contact causing the squeal? That would be paramount to fixing the issue... band-aides are only good for so long.

The TOP rails often get missed as they are hidden, so grease 2x front & 2x rear rails.

You might actually be making maters worse as any lube film will attract dust which will eventually cause squeaking.

Back in the day... they used to recommend Launa oil as it did not attract dust. It was very thin and very expensive. Pretty much put a drop on and wiped it off with your finger.

Launa oil is what Ricoh puts on them at the factory and is what they say to use on squeeky units. You can buy it from Ricoh VSSA9001 and but it's pricey. Or you can get it online.

I have also had this problem on 54 series machines. I imagine that the scanner unit is the same between the two models.
