    MP5000 low density

Check the attachment, I have recently had this happen twice and had to just replace the whole PCU/DV unit from another machine. If you manually tone this up it will get bad back grounding and you done, Is there a way to bump up the density in this machine when this occurs?or is this proceedure missing a step? I also cleaned the mag roller
    Proceedure before this was
Change DV oem, drum, charge roller, blade , yada yada yada
thansfer belt was changed as well
    Drum Replacement Proceedure
    in this order
SP 2001 make sure its at default (1500)
    SP3002-2
    SP-2805
    SP 2810
(no sc 360 occured so its not a defective TD sensor)
    DV proceedure
Paper between PCU and DV Tank
    Run 2801

Paper between DV and PCU? or Paper between PCU and TONER HOPPER? (Was this paper removed after initializing?)
It is IMPOSSIBLE to "Tone up" these machines by Forcing Toner (Will always get the dark background).
Have had instances where the charge roller stalls in the brass bushings, but I think the copy quality issue was different. Also check the little metal "Tabs" that contact each end of the charge roller (Have had these where they aren't making contact, or they have a toner buildup, and get light copies).
Check the metal shaft that sticks out of the DV unit and make sure there's not toner built up between it and the contact plate.
    Laser glass clean?
Most of the time though, when it goes light like that, have to replace the developer again and re-initialize. (I only do 2-805 with the piece of paper between toner hopper and PCU entrance).

Just a thought, the yellow and white connectors going to your transfer belt unit may be reversed. It happens to the best of us.

Stop the copier half way through making a copy. Check the density of the image on the drum and compare to the transferred image on the paper. This will tell you if the drum and dev unit are working or not.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

    usualy:
1 - Clean mag.roller with scotch brite (first of put a new developer)
2 - clean inside all lens/mirror/poly.motor mirror face in to the laserbox
3 - clean the metal contact inside the hole of the drum with a little round file
