The MPCxx03 series have Java installed on a flash ROM on the controller. You can use SP5-730-1 set to '0' to disable Java. The manual says input a Java license code there to enable, but I have never seen it set for anything but either a 1 or a 0. When set to 0 java definitely does not run, and yes the machine feels more responsive.
thanks
i gotta ck if that is the one i set to 0 along with the 20day setting too.
check that function priority is not set to java as well.
thanks all.
i was able to uninstall java and had java turned off b4 doing it via sp5730-1 but machine is slow to come to ready..
I d say it takes 3-4 minutes....
i formatted HD via service mode and this machine originally had "Equitrac" installed and
user codes...

For all your firmware & service manual needs please visit us at:

it has the latest package FW and system was 1.31 and doing the FW did nothing.
So i pulled the hard drive and swapped another good pull and it came up right away wth format HD..
Now i am thinking that might be it.
I let it finish and re power up,and same 3-4 minute wait for normal screen.
So i go into user tools and do the # system at the time and reset all the copiers functions back to factory default.
I think only two of them reset,no printer, scanner, address book features would respond.
Repower machine and went to normal screen in 20 seconds.nice
Hey Andy.
I just thought I'd chime in my my own 2 cents.
I was contacted early last week by a colleague of mine to help out with similar (sounding) issue on an MP C300 at one of his client's. He's just a repair guy and doesn't know anything about IT or Networking. He apparently had someone else without much Ricoh experience try a bunch of stuff without any success.
The original call was for very slow printing. I checked all of the usual things first: drivers, switches, cables, and of course that it wasn't using WSD port, etc. All Good.
Only when I rebooted did I realize that it took forever to boot up, so I immediately figured JAVA was the culprit. It was installed, and they had absolutely no use for it, so I went about uninstalling. That made no difference to the boot speed. My next step was doing a memory clear on virtually everything - except Engine of course. They only use it for printing so that made my life a little easier. Rebooted, and it came to ready very quickly, and no slow printing issues after that.
I wish I knew which module was the actual culprit.
Go Raptors!!
Whats up brother..are you ready for tonights game?
This machine was odd as it had EQUITRAC and would try to boot to a server originally which it couldnt find.
I was glad that after swapping out HD,FW update and uninstalling java I was able to get it normal.
I did some sp 5801 reset excluding 01 and 02 and it made no difference.
The change came in user tools..
