The entire PCDU units are compatible with each other -- I work for a dealer that sells both and had to try this for troubleshooting light copies on a ricoh mp501.
The toners are not compatible however due to the ID chips.

I had light copies twice -- first time was engine board, second time (on different machine) was the high voltage board.

interesting! had no clue the 501 and 3655 the same model.. Worked for ricoh/ ikon for many moons. work on kyoceras products and I love them. Got tired of emptying my vacuum filter once a week when dealing blowing toner everywhere from those Ricohs.

PCDU's and toners are keyed/chipped differently.
