Red face MPC5503 - Paper oven roll changed (Curve)

    Hi !

I'm been facing the problem of MPC5503 paper oven roll changed (Paper curve) when print or copy in every morning.

But after print 20 pages later, it's start back to normal.

I had change the New Original Fusing unit D1504018 also the same.

Temperature here are ok. Not cold and also the paper does not moisture because i use MPC4501 or MPC3001 are OK with the print.

This happen only in A4 size Portrait, but A4 Size Landscape won't happen.

    Any advice on it ?

    Thank you.WhatsApp Image 2019-06-17 at 11.31.50.jpg

    Hi there!
Had this only twice on the 03-series. In both cases the customers were driving cheap paper, also wrong in the cassette (arrow on the paperpackage).
    From RICOH exist 3 modified parts: D1494495 - Tray-assy, D2024466 & 67 exit-rollers. Hope this helps.
    Greetings...

This model is very sensitive to moisture in the paper, so when you make twenty pages it starts to work correctly. I also think that there is also a modification of paper exit rollers to correct the curvature of the paper.

I've had this problem with the machine also. As mentioned I replaced the exit rollers and installed the tray heater and it does help with some curl issues. However as Zeldaman mentioned if you use cheap paper you will still get lots of curl.

There are 3 things that you can do.
    1. There is a tray heater unit available for this model. Install it to prevent moisture condensation over night.
    2. Purchase a dehumidifier, place it next to the C5503 and run it 24 hrs a day.
    3. Take all the paper out of the machine at night and place it in a moisture proof container.

Re: MPC5503 - Paper oven roll changed (Curve)

As I understand it, paper is produced on a roll. It is moistened, metered for thickness and then rolled. High end paper companies use the outermost parts of the rolls and sell the closer to the core remnants to the discount paper places. When moisture and heat are re-introduced, it tries to take the shape it had when it was on the roll. The amount of curl has more to do with paper than the machine. Some machines are better at minimizing it than others. Those with larger diameter fusing rollers seem to be less susceptible to the curl. This info may or may not help you but it might help you better understand that you are working the wrong side of the solution by tweaking the machine. Take it for what it is worth.

The paper is too wet, or too crappy, or is too wet AND too crappy.
